 Annie Aldam: Applied Puppetry Practitioner

I am a puppeteer, maker and workshop facilitator. I work in many different settings such as care homes, schools and day centres. I believe in the art of puppetry as an alternative tool for communication and expression, particularly for those who struggle to communicate verbally, be that because of a disability, or a language barrier.

I have collaborated with artists, teachers and practitioners. These collaborations are really important to my work, for the world is full of people, and when working in settings that are cut off from the rest of the world in many ways, it is important to bring in as diverse a group of people as possible. Helping to give these isolated groups a wider perspective.

One of my main influences is the work and philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Coming from Steiner education as a child, I am now very interested in the developmental approach to learning, which I now incorporate into my work, for both children and adults.
